The value of science
It is important for people to know
and understand science. Science is in everything was do and everything me see.
Everywhere we look we see Biology and Chemistry. For example, it’s important to
know the chemistry be hide the things we eat to know where or not it is okay
for us to eat. It is important to teach people about science because you never
know who could the next doctor and maybe even cure cancer.
In this decade, it is important to
use social media to reach more people. We need to use twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
I think most people think that science
is boring. I think they would find it amazing if they showed chemical reactions
or other things. I think we need to begin teaching people as young as possible
about how important science is.
For the Archie project my partner and I
thought it would be a good idea to make a children’s book. I believe that most
individuals` passion began as child when someone or something sparks an interest
in their young mind. I illustrated Archie as a friendly and interesting
creature that entices children to read it. I believe that this book will start
important questions that children will learn more about as they get older and
research the topic. Question like wait there were different animals in the
past? Animals are change over time? These animals can be found in the ground in
fossils? People can do this as a job? How
can I be like this professor from Appalachian State University?
Okay for content Rachel, but plead add a couple of images/ videos here to make the post more visually engaging. You can include things like: photos of your Archie resource, embedded YouTube videos or TED talks that are good representations of good science being brought to the general public in an engaging way, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso, try to insert some links when you mention other websites. For example, you mention Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. There are tons of great science based accounts for each of these that make science engaging to a general audience and have thousands of followers. Find some, mention examples and insert links so that the reader can go there directly.
I agree with your comment that everyone should learn science because any one of us could have some groundbreaking discovery inside us. Everyone has a great potential for learning different sorts of material, but sadly, what frequently happens is that people often decide that they don't like a topic before they spend enough time to really get a feel for it, or they're never exposed to it at all. No offense, but I personally found biology and chemistry to be a bit boring when it was being taught in middle and high school science classes. However, when I started taking physics classes later on, I really found it to be interesting and engaging, which goes to show that you never really know how you'll like a certain subject unless you try it out.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your Archie book. It was very child friendly and the kids really seemed to like it and like learning about Archie in the format. The information was clear and accurate.
